Context On one hand architecture could be seen as a barren, opaque and limited experience as long as it is encountered only through discourse or through architectural drawings. On the other hand when you add research and experiment to the architecture you become not only an architect but also a beneficiary of your work. Somehow, architecture returns to its natural state, man-made, for the benefit of man. 3-2-1 The project is the investment of a an architecture office which turns the classic triad Client- Architect – Constructor into a binomial structure comprised of (Architect=Client) + Constructor. Sometimes this could be seen as a monologue because when execution is stranded the only way of overcoming this hurdle is a hands-on approach. The energy with which architecture takes place is different because the motivational force to create architecture is different. The place The site is powerful, and the tranquility and calmness surrounding it imposes respect upon anyone in its proximity. It is comprised of 100 acres of land spreading between two mountain villages, with meadows and orchards. Here you can only build if you are small (the volume of the house is broken in three smaller parts) natural (stone, wood and soil) and mild (can you build without being intrusive?) The process As an architect it is painful to want more in a context where nobody wants that from you. Our need to experiment transposed into a research contract with INCERC Timisioara in order to test elements of rammed earth. The results obtained have been used in the design process. The composition of the house - Broken into smaller pieces, the volumes disarray themselves, but remains perfectly aligned with the cardinal directions. The main volumes made from soil and painted white are situated at ground floor and have minimum height, but they receive air and light from under the roof through a skylight. Sustainability, energetic autonomy and other concepts, which prove to be (un)true Under the influence of our theory, the site is filled with elements of sustainable technology such as photovoltaic panels, wind turbines, off-grid energy systems, etc. All of these are coherently and functionally related to each other in a complex system which ultimately results in energy autonomy. The place suggests that a resolution for a problem brought by technology and industrialization will never be from the same technological sphere. But here it’s already to late, we crossed the line.
